[Lion Dance]

spent about 20 hours, mostly exploring the ink effect and the fabric, which i am still not fully satisfied, the pattern on the fabric is very tough to do.

young break dancers in taiwan has incorporated traditional dances into their moves, another way of east meets the west i guess...

i wanted to do something more detailed for practice, so i thought i would just chil on the background and concerntrate on the charactor building. the idea is to illustrate ordinary poeple/occupation and add in some exaggerated elements.

the level in detail is reduced in comparism, i have some trouble doing the face, imagination needs a lot of hard work on observation, and it's something i have to work on still. it would be nice to have a model posing for me though.

Bad slide

this was a project in the same style, unfortunately the lighting was off, the rightside is a little dark. i didn't realize the effect was going to be this disapointing til i saw it on the magazine.

Going back to hand drawing

this was the next project, and i had very little time to work on it, so i couldn't make too many changes.i went back to hand drawings to find my root, people from the magazine was nice enough to let me do so, well, they didn't have much time neither....

my friend from college pointed out that the big figure on the rightside looks like he is smoking the little figure in his hand, which i didn't see when i was working on this image. how great to have people finding suprises for you like that!!!
